Regulators Adopt The Latest Standards For SAR Scanning Systems

In the month of April, government regulators in USA, Canada and Germany issued statements on the adoption of the latest SAR measurement standards. The Canadian government has largely accepted IEC/IEEE 62209-1528.

The FCC has adopted procedures from IEC/IEEE 62209-1528 for the 6 – 10 GHz frequency range and will update their guidance in the fall. The Head-Stand, Face-Down and Wrist phantoms for wearable devices have been accepted by the FCC.

SPEAG and the IT’IS Foundation are committed to working with the standard groups and regulators to improve IEC 62209-3 and eliminate its shortcomings by the end of the year.
